Woollahra loses Supreme Court merger appeal

The Supreme Court of Appeal this afternoon handed down its decision on the Woolahra Council’s appeal against forced amalgamations. The Court dismissed Woollahra’s appeal – not on the merits of the merger which was not an issue here but on the fact that the government had not contravened the Local Government Act in the way it went about the forced amalgamations.
