With his endearing humour, Perry Trethowan announced, officially, on Tuesday he and Bronnie’s long awaited retirement from the popular Bank Street newsagency their family have owned and operated for 36 and a half years.
“Yesterday I was ‘tired’ – today I’ve added two letters to the front of the word to announce that Bronnie and I have ‘retired‘ said Perry.
Molong has been waiting for news in the hope that this important town business will continue with new operators coming forward – and to give Bron and Perry the opportunity to take a long awaited rest. Positive town supporters, Kaylene and Matt Philpott – licencees of the Molong Post Office, came forward making a decision to combine their post office business with the newsagency. From 28 September the two businesses will be combined into one in the existing newsagency building.
This is a positive outcome for the Trethowans, Philpotts and Molong in keeping the newsagency business open – and in co-locating two important businesses/services in town. From Monday 14 September the newsagency opening hours will be Mon – Fri 7.30am to 5.30pm, Sat. 7.30am to 12noon, Sun. Closed.
