With businesses facing unprecedented challenges as a result of the coronavirus pandemic, organisers of the Cabonne Daroo Business Awards have reluctantly decided to postpone the awards until next year.
Daroo Business Awards Committee chairperson Libby Oldham said it would not be appropriate to conduct the awards this year while many non-essential businesses have been forced to close and others are dealing with a large downturn in turnover.
Mrs Oldham said the business landscape was changing daily as a result of the pandemic and most businesses were now in survival mode.
The committee also believed it would have been insensitive to approach sponsors for financial support in such a difficult business climate.
“We thank all of our loyal sponsors, some of whom have been on board since the Daroos’ inception in 2000, for their amazing support and we hope we will be able to work together again next year,” Mrs Oldham said.
It is the first time in their 21- year history, the organising committee has had to postpone the Daroos, which were to have been announced at a presentation dinner in Canowindra in November.
“We will now have a big 21st birthday celebration in 2021 in Canowindra,” Mrs Oldham said.
