Growing support drives business expansion

AUSSIE Hunting & Camping is expanding its trading hours after a year of increasing support from customers across the region.

Owners, Baden and Dee Hart, are moving from four days of trading to five, following a noticeable increase in foot traffic since relocating their business to Molong’s main street.

Mr Hart said the decision came after a particularly busy day in the shop, as the pair prepared to introduce a new range of products while serving a steady stream of walk-in customers.

“We decided it’s time to open more days,” he said.

“We are so appreciative of the support from the locals and surrounding towns that we need to meet the demand.”

The business has also seen a boost from advertising, with Mr Hart saying radio and print advertising had noticeably increased business as the store approached its first anniversary.

New signage on the highway entering Molong from Wellington has also helped raise the business’s profile, with Mr Hart reporting a 25 per cent increase in Facebook followers overnight after the signage went up.

The growth comes after what Mr Hart described as a hectic first year for the business.

Starting a new business was a significant risk for the couple, with Mr Hart saying there were difficult days when only one customer would walk through the door.

“It does make you question your choices,” he said.

The struggle to obtain the business’s ammunition permit was another major hurdle, but Mr Hart said the couple persevered and eventually succeeded.

Despite the challenges, the business has continued to grow month by month.

The couple recently marked their first year in business with a thermal equipment demonstration night, giving customers the opportunity to learn more about thermal technology and ask questions before choosing equipment.

About 50 people attended the event, with Mr Hart describing the turnout and feedback as extremely positive.

For the Harts, the strong turnout was another sign of the community support that has helped carry the business through its first year.

“It means a lot to Dee and I,” Mr Hart said.

“We took a huge risk at starting up a business, but we back each other and believe that quality products and great service can be successful.”

With customer numbers continuing to grow, the couple are now looking forward to opening their doors for an extra day each week and building on the first 12 months of business.
