CANOWINDRA is set to see further residential growth, with Cabonne Council considering plans for the creation of 30 new residential lots.
Cabonne Council’s deputy general manager Matthew Christensen said the proposal follows changes to land zoning in the Canowindra Local Environmental Plan, or LEP, in 2012, which identified the area for residential development.
“The zoning of the land in Canowindra’s last LEP was for residential, and as such the landowners decided to put forward proposals to council for consideration of subdivision,” Mr Christensen said.
The development application approval allows the subdivision to progress, however several further steps must be completed before construction can begin.
“These include conditions of consent being met, including detailed engineering designs for roads, drainage, sewer and water networks,” Mr Christensen said.
The proposed subdivision is located in the north-west the town, off Browns Avenue near the hospital.
Mr Christensen said the development reflected ongoing demand for additional housing in Canowindra.
“Council has seen take-up of other infill developments around Canowindra, including the Bluebell Estate, which is currently progressing with infrastructure works,” he said.
