A CAMPAIGN to help rebuild Eugowra’s long day care service is calling on the community to help lay the foundations for the town’s future, almost four years after the devastating November 2022 floods.
The Eugowra Community Children’s Centre (ECCC) has launched a symbolic “Brick Fundraiser” in partnership with the Foundation for Rural & Regional Renewal (FRRR), with the goal of raising $500,000 towards a new long day care facility.
While the New South Wales Government has committed funding for the new preschool through the Start Strong Capital Works Grant Program, additional money is needed to complete the long day care component of the project.
ECCC director Raewyn Molloy said access to long day care was vital for local families and the future of the community.
“Without this essential service, parents and the community would struggle to effectively participate in the workforce, creating stress and uncertainty,” she said.
Ms Molloy said every contribution would help create a safe and welcoming environment for the town’s youngest residents.
“Our children deserve a space that is safe, welcoming and built to last,” she said.
“Every donation, big or small, helps us rebuild not just a building but a secure future for Eugowra’s youngest learners.”
The fundraiser offers three sponsorship levels: gold at $5000 and above, silver at $3000 and above, and bronze at $1500 or more.
Sponsors will be recognised with plaques at the new centre, while gold and silver supporters will also be invited to the official opening. Gold sponsors will also receive a piece of artwork created by ECCC children.
Community members who donate more than $100 will receive an engraved paver to be included in the centre’s landscaping.
ECCC Management Committee president Dr Lydia Herbert said spending money on early childhood education was an investment in the future of rural communities.
“The long-term health of rural communities is dependent on the young families that choose to make their homes there,” she said.
“By building this centre, we hope not to just create a legacy for our children, but our grandchildren too.”
