WORKS to upgrade a level crossing on The Escort Way at Borenore in mid-August are expected to shut down the road for a short period.
While the overall construction works are expected to run from 8 to 19 August, The Escort Way will be closed at the level crossing between 6pm on Saturday 15 August and 6am the following Monday.
During that time a lengthy detour will be in place for drivers heading between Orange, Cudal, Manildra, Parkes, and Forbes.
It’s expected the added travel could take up to an extra 20 minutes.
A statement from Cabonne Council said, “Access for local residents and emergency services will be maintained throughout the closure.”
The detour for general traffic from Orange will be via the Northern Distributor Road, onto the Mitchell Highway through Molong, and then back to The Escort Way via Peabody Road.
Locals and emergency services will be directed around the works via Amaroo Road and Convent Lane.
The works are being undertaken by UGL Regional Linx with the aim of improving “rail safety, reliability and long-term performance.”
“During the works, residents may notice increased worker and vehicle activity, construction noise, overnight lighting and traffic control measures,” a statement from Cabonne Council said.
