FASHION lovers from across the Central West are expected to flock to Canowindra next month, with Seeker Markets preparing for its biggest event yet.
The fashion market will return to Perennialle Plants on Sunday 23 August for its third event, after more than 400 people came through the doors at the previous gathering.
Founded by sisters Courtney Clancy and Morgan Grant, Seeker Markets was created to bring the experience of Sydney and Melbourne’s popular fashion markets to the Central West.
The sisters, who grew up in Bathurst before spending time in the city and eventually returning to the region, said they wanted to give local shoppers access to a wider variety of fashion without having to travel to Sydney or Melbourne.
“We really did it because we wanted to bring that sort of great fashion to the Central West,” Ms Clancy said.
“We’ve been shopping at our favourite markets in Sydney and Melbourne for years and really wanted to have that experience here, especially with Morgan recently moving to Canowindra, and myself to Orange.
“We just wanted to bring more of that, so we weren’t having to travel to the city.”
The markets offer shoppers the chance to find stylish and on-trend clothing at a fraction of the original retail price, with a mix of affordable fashion, sought-after labels and a range of sizes.
While the focus is primarily on women’s fashion, some stallholders also bring children’s clothing, with no shortage of variety for shoppers looking to refresh their wardrobes.
Ms Clancy said the market also offered a way for local women to circulate fashion within the community.
“There are so many great fashionable women in the Central West and they’ve got clothes to sell and share,” she said.
“It really gives you a chance to have a bit more variety in your wardrobe and be able to sell stuff so that you can buy more stuff as well.”
The August event is expected to feature a particularly sought-after collection, with a local boutique owner preparing to clear out her own wardrobe at the market for the first time.
Courtney said she hopes the event would continue to bring visitors into the town and encourage them to explore local businesses.
“It’s a good chance to explore Canowindra,” she said.
“People tend to wander and see all the other little shops and things in the area, so it’s a really nice day out for people to hang with their friends and family.”
The Seeker Markets will be held at Perennialle Plants in Canowindra on Sunday 23 August, with the venue’s cafe and nursery offering visitors another reason to make a day of the trip.
