LOCAL firefighters in the Central West got a boost recently, with a new fire truck rolling into the station in Orange.
The $1.3 million appliance, serving the role of a rescue pumper, is part of a new line of trucks being added to Fire and Rescue NSW’s fleet.
As part of the upgrade, the truck comes with what’s dubbed a “carousel”, a storage solution that rotates allowing access to different pieces of equipment as needed.
Tools carousel include three new battery-powered cutting tools, replacing old hydraulic models.
Local Orange MP Phil Donato welcomed the new truck’s deployment.
“I’m pleased to see our firefighters getting the equipment they need to keep pace with the demands of our community,” he said.
“Orange firefighters respond to a wide range of incidents across the Central West, from house fires to road crashes.
“This new rescue pumper will help crews respond more efficiently across the regions while improving firefighter safety.”
