THERE were plenty of happy horses and riders at Cudal Pony Club’s August rally, with members enjoying a day of fun at Cudal Showgrounds on Sunday 2 August.
The rally came just after the official birthday of all horses, celebrated on 1 August, giving the club the perfect excuse to throw a party for their favourite four-legged friends.
Club members embraced the occasion with a pony party, complete with pony painting and plenty of party games.
“The youngest riders had a birthday party and painted a pony and played all party games and stuff, which was lovely,” volunteer Lisa Fowler said.
While the younger riders enjoyed the birthday fun, the older members spent the day practising their riding skills ahead of a busy few months, including the return of the Pony Club ring at the Cudal Show, and a three-day camp planned for the end of September.
Cudal Pony Club has a strong presence at the Cudal Showgrounds, with members taking part in a range of equestrian activities including sporting, showjumping, dressage, cross-country and general riding tuition.
The club’s monthly rally days give riders the chance to develop their skills, build confidence and, perhaps most importantly, spend time with their horses and friends.
For young rider Gracie Fowler, Pony Club is a big part of her life.
“It’s amazing,” she said, describing the friendships she has made and the special bond she is building with her new horse, Gringo.
Gracie has had Gringo for just three weeks, but the pair are already becoming firm friends.
The club’s rally days bring together riders of different ages and abilities for a day of learning, riding and plenty of fun.
With birthday celebrations, pony games, riding and plenty of smiles, the August rally was the perfect way for Cudal Pony Club to celebrate their favourite four-legged friends.
