FIRE and Rescue New South Wales Molong firefighters were called to a hybrid vehicle fire near Boree on Monday evening.
The crew faced a challenging situation, with the vehicle’s lithium battery making the fire difficult to extinguish.
An Fire and Rescue NSW spokesperson said the incident took a considerable amount of time to bring under control, with the battery continuing to pose a challenge for firefighters.
“Thankfully the training the crew received helped in rendering the situation safe,” a spokesperson said following the call-out.
The spokesperson also said the incident highlights some of the challenges emergency crews can face when responding to fires involving hybrid vehicles and their lithium-ion battery systems.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
