YOUNG people across New South Wales are being encouraged to put themselves forward for the 2026 New South Wales Youth Summit, with applications now open.
The youth-led event, themed “The Future Won’t Wait”, will be held in Liverpool on 1 December and bring together young people aged 12 to 25 to discuss the issues affecting their lives and communities.
For the first time, young people can apply directly for a place at the Summit, which will include youth-led panels, workshops, discussions with government leaders, a youth expo, live entertainment and food trucks.
Minister for Youth, Rose Jackson, said young people should have a direct role in shaping decisions that affect them.
“Young people aren’t just the leaders of tomorrow, they’re helping shape New South Wales right now,” Ms Jackson said.
“This Summit is your chance to speak up, share your ideas and be part of decisions that impact your future.”
New South Wales Advocate for Children and Young People Katherine McKernan said the Summit would focus on turning young people’s ideas into action.
“The 2026 New South Wales Youth Summit is about listening, accountability and action,” Ms McKernan said.
Attendees will also hear how the New South Wales Government has responded to priorities raised at the 2024 Youth Summit, with a report card outlining progress since the event.
Applications close 20 September and people can apply through the New South Wales Government Youth Summit website.
