MOLONG was brimming with life on Saturday, as the Magpies hosted a packed grand final day, with full carparks and spectators spilling across the grounds to support the club.
For club president Lachlan Sullivan, the atmosphere was a fitting end to what had been an exceptional season for the club.
“The season this year for the Magpies was exceptional,” Mr Sullivan said.
“We knew we had a different challenge altogether, and for the senior club especially, it really came together well. Numbers were good and obviously first grade went through undefeated.”
The grand final day featured three closely fought matches, with the women’s and second-grade games providing an exciting lead-up to the first-grade decider.
Mr Sullivan thanked the Magpies’ committee, local community, sponsors and former players for getting behind the club.
“I just want to thank my committee, and the community for their support on the day and throughout the year,” he said.
“We’ve had some really good home ground games with great crowds.”
With the season wrapped up, attention will turn towards 2027.
The club’s AGM is scheduled for the final weekend of November, with preparations expected to begin in January.
The Magpies hope to remain in the same competition and field two senior men’s teams, a senior women’s team and junior sides.
While the club has strong depth among the men, attracting more players to the women’s side will be a priority over summer.
“We’ve got great depth in the men. We need to work on our numbers for the girls,” Mr Sullivan said.
After an undefeated first-grade campaign and a grand final day that saw the Molong grounds packed with supporters, the Magpies head into the off-season with plenty to celebrate.
