UTE enthusiasts from across the region will once again roll into Molong this September, with the Molong Show Society bringing back the popular ute show following its success last year.
The event will once again be run by ute enthusiast and experienced judge Kurt Neumann, who has been involved in ute competitions for more than a decade and currently runs the Orange Ute Show.
Mr Neumann said ute shows had become increasingly popular as opportunities for like-minded people to catch up, socialise and showcase their pride and joy.
“Ute shows are getting few and far between, so a lot of people enjoy coming along, not just for winning prizes but to catch up with friends and get out and about,” he said.
“It gives people the chance to visit towns they might not normally stop in, and Molong was a great spot for people to come through, explore the town and enjoy the day.”
The competition will feature a wide range of categories, with Mr Neumann encouraging anyone with a ute to enter.
“I don’t just cater to a small group of people,” he said. “I make categories for everyone, and anyone can enter.”
Entries range from highly modified utes, featuring big bull bars, motors and exhausts, through to tribute vehicles and everyday builds that have been lovingly worked on by their owners.
For those who have never entered a ute show before, Mr Neumann’s advice is simple.
“Have a go,” he said. “You get more of a chance of winning if you show up.”
Entries will be judged according to individual category criteria, with Kurt saying every vehicle is judged fairly.
“We don’t play favourites. Everything is judged down the line, and I try to give everybody who shows up a crack.”
