Paws poised for take-off

DEXTER and Diesel are ready to take their jumping to new heights at this year’s Molong Show.

The canine duo will be competing in the dog high jump, although their owners Flick  and Josh Dowler aren’t entirely sure what to expect.

Neither dog has competed before, but they certainly aren’t short on confidence.

“They just love jumping,” Ms Dowler said.

Diesel, a rescue dog who joined the Dowlers three years ago, is said to be able to clear the family’s front fence, while Dexter, their Jack Russell, has perfected the art of jumping onto Mr Dowler’s ute.

Now the two dogs are ready to show off their skills at Molong Show, with Ms Dowler and Mr Dowler hoping for a win, but mostly looking forward to a fun family day out with their young daughter, Charlie.

As well as the dog high jump, this year’s show will also feature equestrian events, yard dog trials, cattle, sheep and poultry judging, cooking, crafts, and art shows, ute and bike comps, rides, games and so much more.

The main location is the Molong Showground located at 84 Euchareena Road in Molong, while the horse events are set for the Molong Campdraft Ground on Banjo Paterson Way.

The 2026 Molong Show will take place on Saturday 5 September, with gates to the general public open from 9am.

Tickets are $15 for 13-year-old to adults, children five to 12 are $5, kids under four are free, pensioniors with a card $5, and a family pass of two adults and two kids under 12 costs $30.
