A FAMILIAR face around Molong’s Lime & Stone Cafe is taking the next step in his footballing journey after securing a place with a National Premier League division 1 Men’s team in Canberra.
Cudal-raised Jack Lewis will relocate to the nation’s capital in the coming months after being selected to play at the highest level available to him before making the jump to professional soccer.
A familiar face in the local community through his work at Lime and Stone Cafe in Molong, Lewis said he has been playing soccer since he was three or four years old.
Lewis began playing locally before progressing through the Central Coast Mariners Skills Acquisition Program, and later into NPL2, where he travelled to Sydney to compete against other teams.
He later continued with Western FC through to the under-18s, participated in a talented sporting program in Sydney and competed at national level when he was 15 and 16.
After ageing out of his previous team, Lewis was unable to continue playing at the same level due to the cost of relocating.
Now, with the opportunity to make the move, he decided it was time to pursue his soccer ambitions once again.
“I put myself forward to play semi-professional NPL1 men’s and I got selected,” Lewis said.
