THE Molong District Soccer Club’s Under 8 Hawkes had a great game yesterday against the Waratahs.
The Waratahs side had a very talented side and the mighty Molong Hawkes tried their best but had a few goals scored against them.
An excellent effort in goals by Jayla May in the first half, who volunteered to go in goals.
In the second half Marnie Lawrence also made some excellent saves and tried really hard against a tough Waratahs side.
Oscar Dekeyzer was the player of the week, and didn’t stop running and chasing the ball making some excellent tackles and awesome passes to his teammates.
In the big leagues, the C Grade Bin Chickens had a tough weekend, playing both Friday night and Saturday afternoon.
Friday night’s game was by far the best game from the Bin chickens all season. It was a very close game with a four all score line against Millthorpe going into the dying seconds.
Unfortunately in the last three minutes of the game, the Bin Chickens had a handball go against them in their box and Millthorpe had a penalty from the spot.
The Bin chickens went down 5 to 4. The game deserved a draw. Toby Croake scored a brace and Millthorpe scored two own goals, but it was a great game with great sportsmanship shown by both sides.
The Bin Chickens backed up on Saturday against Kinross, despite some very tired and bruised players, the Molong side gave it their all but went down 2-0 in a very tough game.
The Bin Chickens showed great team spirit, with a special mention to Adam Campbell when played with a suspected broken rib from a heavy collision the night before, also Joshua Filla, who suffered a broken nose from the week before.
Both players played their best and showed amazing team spirit and effort for their team to play injured.
The U10 Seagulls faced one of their toughest opponents on Saturday, taking on the Orange Anglican Grammar School.
OAGS proved to be a very capable side and had the Seagulls on the back foot early in the game.
The team responded brilliantly, however, with some excellent all-round play and a series of great goals.
Bailey Rainbow scored a fantastic goal at a crucial moment, helping the Seagulls take control of the match and secure a well-earned 4–1 victory.
Seth Boulton worked tirelessly up front, providing great support for his teammates, and was deservedly named Player of the Week.
Nate Stewart continued his fine form, consistently making smart decisions with the ball and delivering perfectly timed passes to create opportunities for his teammates.
A special mention also goes to Max Wood, who put in a brave performance after taking over in goal for the second half when OAGS were continually putting the Seagulls’ defence under pressure.
