PLAY in the Molong Bowling Club’s pairs championship got underway on the greens on Sunday.
Players competed in the first two rounds of the tournament under solid sunshine playing 12 ends at three bowls.
Round one saw B Murray and Brian Beatty defeat N Mckenzie and M Wicks 67 to 53, and then A Weekes and G Weekes down D Luck and L Hoppa 82 to 38.
In round two the games were more numerous.
A Weekes and G Weekes faced off against fellow early round victors B Murray and B Beatty with the former taking the victory 73 to 27.
Meanwhile S Fessey and M Tendinick defeated B Trethowan and T Fitzgerald 68 to 52, M Brown and I Gosper got the win over P Mckenzie and F Miller 68 to 52, and H Weekes and K Weekes just pipped D Lyons and H Hamilton 62 to 58.
The finals will be played in about a month, with an all-Weekes semi set to roll up on Saturday 10 October.
The other penultimate match will see S Fessey and M Tendinick take on M Brown and I Gosper.
All games will get underway at 10am with the final slated for a start at about 12.30pm.
