AS the curtain falls on season 2026, clubs across the Shire continue to celebrate team and personal accolades with presentation evenings.
Last Saturday it was Yeoval’s turn, with the Eagles taking a run to the Oilsplus North Cup grand final in the men, and the women also making a finals appearance.
Hosted at the team’s major sponsor, the Yeoval Bowling Club, the Eagles awarded several players and members for big efforts over the winter.
Women’s awards included Chloe Chandler who took home Best & Fairest and Players’ Player, Carrie Smith was Rookie of the Year, Allison Mekaylah had Most Points and Most Consistent Back, Khiarna Hargraves got Most Improved Back, Kristina Brown was named Most Consistent Forward and Alanna Yates received the Most Improved Forward title.
In the men Josh Lees left with three gongs including Players’ Player, Best & Fairest and Highest Points.
Other award recipients were Nic Barber with Most Tries, Chris Wolfe as Rookie of the Year, Mark Iles got Clubman of the Year, and Abe Dunworth received the Choco Award.
Damian Doherty was Most Consistent Back and John Pickford Most Consistent Forward, while Tom O’Connor was Most Improved Back and Joe Walkom Most Improved Forward.
“Congratulations to all of our award recipients and to every player who pulled on the jersey and proudly represented Yeoval this season,” a statement from the club said.
“We would like to extend a special thank you to our club committee for all the work that goes on behind the scenes throughout the year and to our coaches, Ricky Ah-See and Bruce Smoo Lees, for the time, commitment and support they have given our players and our club throughout the season.
“A country rugby club simply wouldn’t be possible without the people who give their time, lend a hand, get behind our teams and continue to support the club year after year.”
